GOVERNMENT BANS GRADUATION PARTIES FOR NURSERY & JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS

The Imo State Ministry of Education has announced a new policy that will drastically change activities in public and private schools across the state.

In a circular dated 8th August 2025, the Commissioner for Education directed that graduation ceremonies and parties will only be permitted for Primary 6 and Senior Secondary School 3 students. This means that pupils in Kindergarten, Nursery, and Junior Secondary School will no longer hold graduation parties.

The government explained that the decision is in line with the 6-3-3-4 education system and aims to curb unnecessary financial burdens on parents and guardians.
