Senator dumps Labour Party, Joins APC

The Senator representing Enugu East, Kelvin Chukwu, has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Chukwu, from Amuri, Nkanu West LGA, made the announcement on Wednesday during a town hall meeting with constituents at the village square.
He cited the lingering crisis in LP as the main reason for his exit, stressing that the division has weakened the party’s structure. He also dismissed the PDP as being in “deep mess.”
👉 The Senator said he will formally announce his defection on the Senate floor when plenary resumes.
The meeting was attended by APC leaders, including ex-Enugu APC chairman Dr. Ben Nwoye, traditional rulers, and local dignitaries. Nwoye praised Chukwu’s move, calling it a wise political decision that will benefit both him and his constituents.
