Exposed: BCOS Chair Soliciting Donations for End-of-Year Party via Personal Bank Account

Some management staff and cross section of workers at the Oyo State Government-owned Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo state, (BCOS), in Ibadan are currently discussing in hush tones the latest scandal rocking the organization.

A WhatsApp message linked to Mrs Dotun Olaitan, the Chairman of the BCOS Board of Management surfaced online on Tuesday in Ibadan where she was asking friends of the BCOS (both locally and internationally) to support the organization’s forthcoming event.

In the WhatsApp message bearing her contact, Dotun Olaitan stated that she was personally inviting people to donate “handsomely” to her account in order to procure some needs of the organization like Cow, Bags of Rice, Drinks amongst others.

Her message that is already generating widespread condemnations read thus:

“Good morning, my darling brother, and calvary greetings to you IJMN

“This is to cordially and personally invite you to BCOS 2025 Xmas Carol and end of the year event coming up on the 11th of December, 2025, at the BCOS Chapel.

“Secondly, I am calling on a few of my friends for support towards getting our needs for the day, namely: A cow, Chickens, Groundnut oil, 3 bags of rice, Soft drinks and water, etc.

“Pls whatever you pick to take care of would be appreciated. God loves a cheerful giver.

“My account details: Access Bank 0027588880 Olaitan Adedotun.

“Thanks as you lend a hand.

“Happy December, and have a great day 😀.

“Dotun Olaitan Chm, BCOS.”

A unionist within the organization described the development as not new, saying “Dotun has always been like that and that tells you the kind of leadership she is providing for BCOS at the moment. A lot of shameful things are going on, under her watch and this is just “too little compared to other monumental sharp practices” under her.

“Remember she was unceremoniously sent away from the Oyo state chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) while she was serving as its secretary. Dotun used the NAWOJ letterhead to solicit Jerusalem pilgrimage slot under the Christian pilgrims welfare board and when the Association got wind of it, they said such slot should be thrown open to all members for a possible nominee.

“But she stuck to her guns, insisting she solicited for the slot for herself. After a lot of uproar, she left the NAWOJ unceremoniously. And unfortunately that’s the kind of a leader supporting one of the contestants of Oyo NUJ in the next week election.

“Delegates should rather beware of such candidate being supported by Dotun Olaitan as he would act or behave the same way like her supporter, a development that won’t augur well for the Union. So delegates in next week’s election should shine their eyes and BCOS voters should not allow themselves to be blackmailed by a person with tainted integrity,” the source said.

“Imagine the millions of naira she will rake into her personal account through sending this message to 50 of her contacts at the detriment of BCOS and Oyo state government.”

“Dotun Olaitan should not only resign but the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) that deals with combating official corruption should wade in immediately,” he added.
