ONGOING GRADING OF IKARE–IRUN ROAD BY AKOKO NORTH WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN, HON. ESAN OWOLABI

The Akoko North West Local Government Secretariat wishes to inform the general public, particularly residents of Ikare-Akoko, Irun-Akoko, and adjoining communities, of the ongoing grading and rehabilitation of the Ikare–Irun Road as part of the council’s commitment to improving rural infrastructure and enhancing community development.

Under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Honourable Esan Owolabi, the council has commenced a comprehensive grading exercise aimed at restoring accessibility, easing transportation challenges, and boosting economic activities along this vital corridor. The Ikare–Irun road, which serves as a major link for farmers, traders, students, and daily commuters, has suffered significant wear over time, causing hardship for road users and affecting the movement of goods and services.

Speaking on the project, Hon. Esan Owolabi reiterated that the welfare of the people remains the top priority of his administration. He emphasized that the ongoing grading is one of several infrastructure interventions planned across the local government to improve rural roads, enhance safety, and strengthen community connectivity.

The Chairman also expressed appreciation to residents for their patience and cooperation while the maintenance work progresses, assuring them that the council will continue to respond promptly to developmental needs within available resources.

The Akoko North West Local Government Council remains committed to purposeful leadership, grassroots development, and the delivery of quality services that positively impact the daily lives of citizens.
