Tinubu Warns Nigerians Against Excessive Alcohol Consumption During Christmas Celebrations

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has cautioned Nigerians to exercise moderation and responsibility during the Christmas and New Year festivities, particularly with regard to alcohol consumption.
In a goodwill message to mark the Christmas celebration, the President urged citizens to prioritise their health, safety, and the wellbeing of others as they enjoy the festive season. He noted that while Christmas is a time of joy, reunion, and gratitude, it should also be observed with wisdom and self-control.

According to the President, excessive alcohol intake often leads to avoidable tragedies, including road accidents, domestic violence, health complications, and other social vices that tend to spike during festive periods. He encouraged Nigerians to celebrate in ways that promote peace, harmony, and mutual respect within families and communities.
President Tinubu also appealed to motorists to avoid drunk driving, stressing that the lives of innocent road users must not be endangered in the name of celebration. He called on law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and religious institutions to continue sensitising the public on the dangers of alcohol abuse, especially during the holidays.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and promoting responsible citizenship, urging Nigerians to look out for one another and extend love and kindness to the less privileged during the season.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year, encouraging everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.
