Chris Okafor denies fathering children with ex-wife, threatens to sue VeryDarkMan for ‘defamation’

Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation Liberation City, has denied allegations that he neglected his paternal responsibilities.

The denial follows a viral Instagram video in which social media activist VeryDarkMan interviewed a lady who identified herself as Chi Okafor and claimed to be the cleric’s biological daughter.

In the footage, the lady alleged that she and her two other sisters are Okafor’s children while accusing him of abandonment.

But in a statement issued on Wednesday through his legal representatives, Okafor dismissed the claims as “false and misleading”, arguing that they were orchestrated by “jobless agents of destruction” bent on damaging his ministry.

The statement also revealed that Okafor, through his counsel, has issued a formal warning letter to VeryDarkMan, accusing him of using his social media platforms to “continuously harass, defame and incite members of the public” against the cleric under the guise of activism.

Okafor faulted the publication of the interview, alleging that VeryDarkMan failed to reach out to him for his side of the story before circulating “malicious, self-serving content” online.

“We therefore state categorically, emphatically, and unequivocally that the claims made by the so-called Ms. Chi Okafor are entirely false, misleading, malicious, inciting, and gravely injurious to the personality and character of our client,” the statement reads.

The cleric’s counsel also provided a detailed account of Okafor’s past relationship with his ex-wife.

According to the statement, Okafor agreed to marry the woman after she claimed to be pregnant for him during his early years in the ministry.

It further alleged that issues arose during the marriage, culminating in a major fallout after Okafor was kidnapped and held captive for about 50 days.

His counsel claimed that the woman denied knowing him when contacted by the kidnappers for ransom and later diverted funds raised by Okafor’s family to secure his release.

Following his eventual release, the statement said a heated disagreement led to questions about the paternity of the children, prompting Okafor to demand a DNA test.

The DNA test results shockingly returned negative, confirming that neither the first nor the second child was biologically related to our client,” the statement reads.

The DNA test certificate is in the possession of the impostor’s mother, and our Client hereby challenges her to produce the said certificate or test result to the public.

“Following this revelation, our client and the impostor’s mother dissolved the supposed marriage and severed all personal ties. The woman left with the children.”

Despite the DNA findings, Okafor’s counsel claimed that he continued to support the children’s education and welfare “out of compassion and goodwill”.

The statement stressed that such support should not be interpreted as an admission of paternity.

The cleric’s legal team described ongoing portrayals of the children as Okafor’s and allegations of abandonment as “misrepresentation and libel”.

They demanded an immediate retraction of all alleged defamatory statements, public apologies in two national newspapers, the removal of related content online, and a fresh DNA test if prior results cannot be produced.

“Failure to comply with these demands will leave our client with no option but to pursue all available legal remedies to protect his reputation, integrity and ministry,” the statement concluded.
