Adewale Adeogun Honours Nigeria’s Fallen Heroes, Calls on Nigerians to Support Their Families
Ambassador (Dr.) Adewale Adeogun has joined millions of Nigerians in commemorating the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, paying glowing tribute to the gallant men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces who laid down their lives in defence of the nation’s unity, peace, and sovereignty.
In a statement released to mark the occasion, Adeogun described Nigeria’s fallen heroes as patriots whose sacrifices remain the bedrock of the country’s continued existence. He noted that their courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to national service should never be forgotten.
“Armed Forces Remembrance Day offers us a solemn opportunity to reflect on the immense sacrifices made by our fallen heroes. These brave men and women gave their all so that we may live in peace and security.
Their legacy of patriotism must continue to inspire us as a nation,” he said.
Adeogun also commended serving officers and personnel of the Armed Forces for their resilience and dedication in the face of ongoing security challenges across the country. He acknowledged their role in safeguarding lives and property, often at great personal risk.
Furthermore, he urged Nigerians, corporate organisations, and government institutions at all levels to extend sustained support to the families of fallen and injured servicemen and women. According to him, caring for these families is a collective national responsibility and a meaningful way to honour the sacrifices of the heroes.
“Our fallen heroes may be gone, but their families remain with us. Supporting them is not charity; it is our duty as a grateful nation,” Adeogun emphasized.
He concluded by calling for renewed commitment to peace, unity, and national cohesion, stressing that the greatest honour Nigerians can give to fallen heroes is to work together to build a safer, stronger, and more prosperous country.
