Samuel Chukwueze’s mother dies after ‘brief illness’
Samuel Chukwueze has lost his mother.
David Chukwueze, the Super Eagles winger’s brother, confirmed the death in a series of posts on his Instagram story on Thursday.
“Can’t even post say RIP mom,” Chukwueze’s brother wrote.
“My forever love just left me without saying goodbye.
You didn’t even carry your grandchild.”
He, however, did not reveal the cause of the death.
Meanwhile, sources close to the family say Chukwueze’s mother had been sick for a while.
Chukwueze, currently on loan from AC Milan to Fulham, had to alternate between England and Italy, where she was being treated, throughout the first half of the season.
The death of Chukwueze’s mother happened a few days after Wilfred Ndidi, Super Eagles captain, lost his father to a road accident.
Chukwueze featured for the Super Eagles at the recent 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he was criticised for missing a penalty during Nigeria’s semi-final loss to Morocco.
The 26-year-old has reprised his form after the AFCON incident and scored for Fulham in his first game after the competition.
He has scored three goals and provided an equal number of assists for Fulham this season.
