ONE FAST, ONE PEOPLE, ONE DESTINY: A DIVINE CALL TO UNITY AND PURPOSE

Today, 18th February 2026, marks the sacred beginning of both the Muslim Ramadan fast and the Christian fast. This rare convergence is not an accident of time; it is an ordinance of God. A heavenly reminder that beyond names, doctrines and denominations, we are one people under one Creator, called to one purpose: peace, love and righteous living.

To our Muslim brothers and sisters and our Christian faithful, this season is a holy invitation to cleanse the heart, discipline the body and renew the spirit. Fasting is not merely abstaining from food; it is abstaining from hatred, bitterness, corruption, lies and division. It is a season to hunger for truth, justice and unity.

HOW WE SHOULD BEHAVE DURING THIS FAST

Walk in Peace and Tolerance.
Let no word of insult, no act of provocation and no seed of religious division find a home in your heart.
Speak gently.
Listen patiently. Respect one another deeply.
Practice Love and Charity
Feed the hungry, clothe the needy, forgive offenders and help your neighbours.
Let your fast reflect in your compassion.
Be Disciplined in Conduct
Avoid anger, gossip, violence and selfishness. True fasting is seen in character, not only in prayer.
Pray for Our Communities and Future.
Pray for Akoko land, for our youths, for our farmers, for our leaders and for a future built on justice and development.

HOW WE SHOULD LIVE AFTER THE FAST

The end of fasting must not end the lessons of fasting.
Let the peace you practiced remain permanent.
Let the unity you discovered become your lifestyle.
Let the discipline you learned guide your daily choices.
Let your prayers become actions for community growth.

This divine alignment of both faiths beginning their fast together is a powerful message: Akoko South East and Akoko South West Federal Constituency can only rise through unity, not rivalry; through cooperation, not conflict.

It is in this spirit of unity, service and collective progress that Chief Engr.Dr. Olayinka Daodu humbly presents his vision to the people as he seeks to serve as Member of the House of Representatives for Akoko South East and South West Federal Constituency.
