President Tinubu makes new appointment
…..re-appoints Adebomehin as Surveyor-General of the Federation
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a two-year extension of the tenure of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. AbuduGaniyu Adebomehin.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the extension will take effect from January 5, 2026.
Onanuga explained that the decision followed the recent transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency, and was aimed at ensuring continuity in key reforms already underway in the office.
The President noted that Mr. Adebomehin has initiated several reforms across critical sectors of geospatial data systems, which he is expected to consolidate during the extended tenure.
President Tinubu tasked the Surveyor-General to focus on national land management and administration, highways and abutting land infrastructure coordination, reclamation and erosion control programmes, and other areas of strategic national importance.
Mr. Adebomehin was first appointed as the Surveyor-General of the Federation by former President Muhammadu Buhari, with effect from January 5, 2022.
