ACCEPTANCE SPEECH OF THE NEWLY ELECTED APC ONDO STATE CHAIRMAN
TITLE: A NEW DAWN OF UNITY AND PROGRESS
Your Excellency, Our Performing Governor,
Distinguished leaders of our great party,
Respected elders, Stakeholders, Women leaders, Youth representatives,
Esteemed committed party faithful,
Gentlemen of the Press,
Ladies and gentlemen,
I stand before you today with a heart full of gratitude to Almighty God, who in His infinite wisdom has granted me the grace to emerge as the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State. As the Holy Bible reminds us in Romans 9:16, “It is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.” Truly, it is God alone who crowns, and today I acknowledge His divine hand in this victory.
I must, in a very special way, appreciate His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, our amiable Executive Governor, for his exemplary leadership. I thank you most sincerely for your steadfast commitment to the growth of our party, particularly for creating a level playing ground for all contestants and allowing democracy to flourish. As John Locke once said, “The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom.” Our Governor has demonstrated this rare quality of a true democrat and leader of the people, ensuring that the will of the party members prevailed.
Your Excellency, may I humbly use this opportunity to assure you that our great party, under my leadership, will remain united, organized, and fully committed to supporting the vision and policy of your administration in the transformation of its noble goals and objectives into realities.
To my fellow contestants, I extend my deepest respect and appreciation. In an exercise such as this, there is no winner or loser. My victory is our collective victory. We must all come together for the peace and progress of our party. As Aristotle wisely noted, “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” Unity is our greatest strength, and it is only in unity that we can achieve progress and development.
I acknowledge with profound gratitude the overwhelming support from every delegate; ward leader, local government chairmen, and the entire membership of our party who participated in this process. Your confidence in me is humbling, and I promise to justify this trust. In a philosophical submission, I say to each and every one of you: thank you for the love you have shown. It is indeed a call to service.
I cannot thank you enough, my distinguished leaders, respected elders, women leaders, and our vibrant youths. May I humbly emphasize that today is not just a victory but a declaration. It is a declaration that our great party is strong and alive; a declaration that our internal democracy within the party is strong and portent; and a declaration that unity will define our future.
I wholeheartedly accept this responsibility with humility and passion, but also with the required zeal and determination. This historic moment calls for courage and strength. It urgently calls for leadership that brings everyone together and leaves no one behind.
Therefore, I make bold to say that this mandate does not belong to one faction or group. My leadership will be for all, we shall build a strong and united APC in Ondo State, a party that everyone will be proud of.
Elections may have tested our differences, but leadership must now unite our strength. From this particular moment, there will be no camps or divisions, no winner or loser. We shall remain one indivisible entity as a family, with one movement and virile structure.
Let me coin it clearly. This is not a victory of exclusion but of inclusion. Everybody must join hands with me to write a new chapter in the history of our party.
We must now move from competition to collaboration.
Our party must become:
• A fortress of unity;
• A platform for inclusion;
• A machine of discipline and strategy;
• A home for every loyal member.
We will energize our grassroots.
We will empower our youths — not just with slogans, but with structure and responsibility.
We will elevate our women — not just in words, but in leadership positions.
We will strengthen our elders — honoring their wisdom and experience.
No one will be sidelined. No one will be ignored.
But let me be clear: unity also requires discipline, loyalty, and commitment. We must speak with one voice. We must act with one purpose. We must protect the integrity of this party at all times.
The era of internal division must end today.
The era of collective progress begins now.
Our mission is bigger than positions.
It is bigger than personal ambition.
It is about service. It is about impact. It is about winning the confidence of the people we seek to represent.
We must build a party that inspires trust;
a party that commands respect;
a party that wins elections;
and more importantly, a party that delivers results.
I promise you transparent leadership.
I promise you accessibility.
I promise you fairness.
And I promise you that every decision taken under my leadership will prioritize the unity and strength of this party.
Together, we will organize.
Together, we will mobilize.
Together, we will strategize.
And together — we will win.
Let today mark the beginning of a new chapter, a chapter of renewed energy, renewed discipline, renewed unity, and renewed hope.
Stand with me.
Work with me.
Let us move forward as one unstoppable force.
In conclusion, I declare that I will rely on the wisdom of our elders and the dynamism of our youth for the effective running of this party. As the African proverb says, “What an elder sees sitting down, a youth may not see standing up.” Yet, it is the energy of the youth that drives progress. Therefore, all hands must be on deck for a great and historic chapter in the life of APC in Ondo State under my leadership.
May God bless the APC.
May God bless Ondo State.
May God bless Nigeria.
I thank you for your rapt attention.
God bless you all.
