Governor warns cabinet against information leaks

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has cautioned members of the State Executive Council against leaking government information and engaging in internal rivalry, warning that acts capable of undermining the administration will no longer be tolerated.

The governor issued the warning during the 38th Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday, where he urged cabinet members to remain loyal and committed to the objectives of his administration.

Yusuf said the government would no longer condone disunity or actions capable of creating mistrust within the council.

“The era of rancour, the era of disloyalty, the era of leaking information, the era of coming in between one another is over,” the Yusuf stressed.

He harped on the need for members of the council to work collectively toward the development of the state and the welfare of residents.

The governor also disclosed that recent political and administrative developments had influenced his decisions, along with other stakeholders, to align with the All Progressives Congress, describing the move as being in the best interest of Kano State
According to him, the decision followed consultations with members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers at both the state and national assemblies, as well as chairmen of the 44 local government areas and other political stakeholders across the state.

“We need economic and infrastructural development within our state and the support and cooperation of the central government,” he added.

Yusuf confirmed that five commissioners resigned their positions following the political realignments, noting that their resignations had been accepted by the state government.

He also congratulated the winners of the recent by-elections for Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies, Nabil Sarki Aliyu Daneji and Sa’ad Aminu Sa’ad, both candidates of the APC, urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them by their constituents.

The governor further congratulated Umar Haruna Doguwa on his emergence as the APC chairman in Kano State after the party’s recent congress.

He said his administration had continued to implement programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents, including the distribution of motorcycles to social media influencers across the state and the establishment of 150 Ramadan feeding centres for vulnerable residents.

He also expressed appreciation to the federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Progressive Governors Forum for their support following the recent fire incidents that destroyed goods worth billions of naira at Singer Market in Kano.

The governor also confirmed the appointment of Bilkisu Shehu Maimota as the acting Head of Service following the removal of the former Head of Service, urging her to strengthen discipline, unity and professionalism within the state civil service.
