AKOKO SOUTH EAST LOKAN, ELEWUETU LOKAN.

AKOKO SOUTH EAST LOKAN, ELEWUETU LOKAN.

In the spirit of fairness, equity, and justice, it is only right that Akoko South West supports and allows Akoko South East to produce the representative for the Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general elections.

A look at the history of representation clearly shows the need for balance and inclusiveness:

1999–2003: P. S. Orimoloye (Akoko South East)
2003–2007: P. S. Orimoloye (Akoko South East)

2007–2009: Anota Joshua Ola (Akoko South West)

2009–2011: Debo Jerome Ologunagba (Akoko South West)

2011–2015: Debo Jerome Ologunagba (Akoko South West)

2015–2019: Kolawole Babatunde (Akoko South East)

2019–2023: Adejoro Adeogun (Akoko South West)

2023–2027: Adegboyega Adefarati (Akoko South West)

From the above, Akoko South West has had a longer stretch of representation in recent years. For the sake of justice, fairness, and political harmony, the pendulum should now swing to Akoko South East.

It is also important to clarify that the Federal Constituency comprises two local governments each in Ondo State, not three as it is sometimes erroneously assumed by some people.

Furthermore, the existence of two state constituencies within Akoko South West Local Government pertains strictly to representation in the State House of Assembly and should not be used as a yardstick in determining representation at the Federal Constituency level.

And if, peradventure, this is to be considered as a yardstick, it should strictly be applied within Akoko South West Local Government when the position is eventually rotated back to them. It should not, in any way, become a basis to deny or undermine the rightful turn of Akoko South East.

This is not just about politics; it is about unity, fairness, justice and inclusiveness.
