Court sacks LG Chairman
The Kano State High Court has removed Ghali Abdullahi Basaf from his position as chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Council.
The court nullified the Certificate of Return that had been issued to him, ruling that it was given in violation of a previous court order.
The case was brought by Ali Musa Hardworker against Basaf, the New Nigeria Peoples Party, and the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC).
The court ordered that Hardworker be sworn in as the lawful chairman of Kumbotso Local Government.
The judge instructed KANSIEC to follow the earlier judgment delivered on October 25, 2024, and reminded all parties to comply with judicial rulings.
This decision ends Basaf’s tenure and sets the stage for Hardworker to assume office as directed by the court.
