Police identify officers in viral harassment video, promise disciplinary action
The Complaint Response Unit of the Nigerian Police Force has said the officers caught on camera harassing young men in a viral video have been identified and would face disciplinary action.
The unit made this known in a statement on Saturday in reaction to a video on X.com, formerly Twitter, showing some police officers subjecting young boys to harassment under the guise of a search operation.
The statement read, “Dear members of the public, the policemen in the viral video have been identified and appropriate disciplinary actions awaits them accordingly.”
The unit appealed to Nigerians to continue to support the police as it worked to rid the force of misconduct.
“We seek for your support and trust as we fight impunity to a standstill,” it added, with the hashtag #NoToImpunity.
