US Revokes Green Cards Of Relatives Of Slain Iranian General Soleimani, Orders Detention

Both individuals were subsequently arrested by federal agents and are now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The United States has revoked the lawful permanent resident status of two relatives of slain Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Qasem Soleimani, citing alleged ties to and support for the Iranian government.

In a statement, the U.S. Department of State said Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered the termination of the legal status of Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, identified as Soleimani’s niece, and her daughter.

Both individuals were subsequently arrested by federal agents and are now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

According to the statement, Soleimani Afshar was described as “an outspoken supporter” of the Iranian government, with officials alleging that she promoted Iranian state narratives while living in the United States.

“While living in the United States, she promoted Iranian regime propaganda, celebrated attacks against American soldiers and military facilities in the Middle East, praised the new Iranian Supreme Leader, denounced America as the ‘Great Satan,’ and voiced her unflinching support for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps,” the statement said.

The department further alleged that she maintained an affluent lifestyle in Los Angeles while posting content supportive of Iran on social media.

The statement added that, in addition to terminating the residency status of Soleimani Afshar and her daughter, U.S. authorities barred her husband from entering the country.

The State Department also announced that earlier in the month, Secretary Rubio terminated the legal status of Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani, daughter of former Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani, along with her husband, Seyed Kalantar Motamedi.

Both individuals are no longer in the United States and have been barred from future entry, the statement said.

The department expressed appreciation to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for their role in the operation.

“The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes,” the statement added.
