Tinubu Reconstitutes Electricity Commission NERC Board, Calls For Power Sector Reforms
In the reconstituted board, Dr Mulisiu Olalekan Oseni was appointed Chairman, while Dr Yusuf Ali was named Vice Chairman of the Commission.
President Bola Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the Board of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), following the confirmation of its members by the Senate on December 16, 2025.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the reconstituted board is expected to deepen and consolidate reforms in Nigeria’s power sector in line with the Electricity Act, 2023.
The reconstitution of the NERC board comes amid nationwide struggle with power generation and electricity supply, and ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Government to stabilise the electricity market, strengthen regulatory oversight, and improve power supply across the country.
