The Abe Igi Youth Parliament yesterday, successfully hosted a landmark Youth Parliament Summit, marking another defining moment in youth driven governance and political engagement in Ondo State.
The Chairman of the Abe Igi Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon. Kayode Katola in his well articulated address, expressed deep appreciation to fellow parliamentarians for their unwavering support and unity, acknowledging the dedication of the executives in driving the vision of his administration.
He also commended His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, for his consistent support for youth inclusion and democratic development, while appreciating all stakeholders whose contributions continue to strengthen and grow the Parliament.
The summit featured Barr. (Hon.) Olumuyiwa Adu (popularly known as Cubana) as the keynote speaker of the day.
In a remarkable show of commitment to youth development, Barr. Adu supported the Parliament with a generous donation of ₦2 million, reinforcing his belief in empowering young leaders for a better future.
During his keynote address, Barr. Adu passionately advised youths to be hardworking, disciplined, and purpose driven, urging them to shun idleness and dependency. Drawing from his personal life experiences, he shared practical lessons on perseverance, resilience, and self belief, offering strong motivation to the youths of Ondo State to remain focused and productive in their pursuits.
Barr. Adu also used the occasion to raise support for Governor Ayedatiwa’s developmental agenda, particularly his strategic vision of positioning Ondo State as a modern urban and economic hub.
He emphasized Akure’s growing strategic importance as a development corridor and praised the Governor’s efforts in laying strong foundations for sustainable growth.
Speaking further on economic advancement, Barr. Adu disclosed his interest in establishing a refinery in Ondo State, describing it as a major step towards industrialization and job creation. He revealed that Governor Ayedatiwa’s success in securing seaport licenses from Abuja has greatly boosted his confidence and morale to work more vigorously towards actualizing the refinery project, noting that such infrastructure will unlock massive economic opportunities for the state.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to leadership, youth empowerment, and public service, the Abe Igi Youth Parliament conferred on Barr. (Hon.) Olumuyiwa Adu the “Most Outstanding Icon of the Year” award. The award was formally presented by the Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State, on Strategic Communications, Allen Sowore, Esq.

The summit was widely adjudged a resounding success, bringing together technocrats, policymakers, and politicians from across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.
Nevertheless, Hon. Bright Eniafe, Secretary of the Planning Committee for the Summit, who represented the Committee Chairman, Hon. C. Banking, in his unavoidable absence, expressed deep appreciation to all invited guests and fellow parliamentarians for their immense support toward the success of the summit. He also thanked the leadership of the Parliament for the confidence and trust reposed in the committee to oversee the planning and execution of the summit.
One minute silence was observed for the Comrades who were lost to the cold hands of death this year.
