“A nation that remembers its heroes strengthens its unity and secures its future.”

On this solemn and historic occasion of the 2026 Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration Day, we pause as a grateful nation to honour the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering patriotism of the gallant men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces, past and present, who laid down their lives in defence of our sovereignty, unity, and collective destiny. These fallen heroes paid the supreme price in service to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

On behalf of patriotic Nigerians and all progressive supporters of national unity, I express profound gratitude to our Armed Forces and their families, whose sacrifices embody the true meaning of service above self. Their courage continues to strengthen our collective resolve to uphold national unity and contribute meaningfully to the ongoing effort to build a secure, stable, and hopeful future for our country.

This day, 15th January, 2025, reminds us that the peace we seek, the stability we pursue, and the renewed hope we hold for a better Nigeria are firmly built on the sacrifices of our fallen heroes. From peacekeeping missions across the globe to resolute efforts in securing lives and property at home, the Nigerian Armed Forces remain enduring symbols of national resilience, discipline, and unity.

As we remember our heroes who paid the supreme price, we also celebrate those currently in active service, whose professionalism, loyalty, and devotion continue to safeguard the nation. Their commitment reinforces our collective responsibility to remain united, support lawful authority, and work together toward a Nigeria where peace, justice, and prosperity are shared by all.

We must also acknowledge the immeasurable sacrifices of the families of our fallen heroes. Their strength, love, and resilience are powerful reminders that the defence of our nation extends beyond the battlefield and rests equally on the courage of those who stand behind our gallant troops.

As Nigeria advances on the path of renewal, under the leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting initiatives that promote national unity, security, and development. We must honour our fallen heroes not only through remembrance, but through our daily actions as responsible citizens committed to unity, patriotism, and national progress.

May the souls of our fallen heroes rest in perfect peace. May the Almighty grant strength, wisdom, and protection to our gallant Armed Forces. And may the Federal Republic of Nigeria continue to stand united, secure, and prosperous.

We pray that the sacrifices of our heroes will not be in vain, and that Nigeria will emerge stronger and more united than ever.

Together, with courage, unity, and renewed hope, Nigeria shall continue to move forward, stronger and greater than ever.
