AFCON 2025: Super Eagles Soar To Top Of The Stats Charts

The Super Eagles of Nigeria delivered a remarkable performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, despite finishing third overall. The Super Eagles enjoyed the tournament’s longest winning streak, securing five consecutive victories, a run that underlined their ability to manage games and perform under pressure. Ademola Lookman, the Atalanta winger, stood out individually, earning the Best Playmaker award for his four assists and consistent impact in the final third.

Nigeria ultimately settled for third place, finishing behind hosts Morocco and eventual champions Senegal. While Nigeria led in attacking statistics, defensive honours were shared by Morocco, Senegal, DR Congo, and Comoros, each conceding just two goals throughout the competition.

Senegal claimed the AFCON 2025 trophy after a 1-0 victory over Morocco in the final, with Pape Gueye scoring the decisive goal. DR Congo exited in the round of 16 following a defeat to Algeria, while Comoros were eliminated in the group stage after securing two points from three matches in Group A.
