Again, f!re engulfs popular Kano market

Fire has engulfed Gidan Gilas, popularly known as Gidan Mai at Singer market, in Kano destroying multi million naira worth of goods.
Eye witnesses reports said a shop known for selling provisions, was seen in flames and thick black smoke moving into the sky, drawing a large crowd of traders and residents struggling to save goods and prevent the fire from extending to adjoining structures.
According to the eyewitnesses, the fire was already spreading to other buildings, heightening anxiety at the busy market area.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Blueprint.ng reports that there was no immediate trace to what exactly triggered the fire outbreak.
Officials of the Kano state Fire Service responded to the scene with a fire truck, but the water was exhausted as firefighters battled the raging flames.
Another fire truck later arrived to continue the firefighting efforts, Blueprint.ng reports.
In a show of support, a private tanker from Aspira Nigeria Limited also arrived at the scene to assist in extinguishing the fire.
However, many traders and residents expressed concern that more water tankers are needed to fully contain the blaze and prevent further destruction.
The incident comes just a few weeks after a devastating fire outbreak at Singer market led to significant losses to traders, thereby compounding the hardship faced by business owners in the area.
Authorities were yet to speak on the incident.
