IYE AKOKO COMMUNITY VISITS CHAIRMAN OWOLABI, SEEKS GOVERNMENT APPROVAL FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW KING

On February 23, 2026, the Executive Chairman of Akoko Northwest Local Government Area, Hon. Esan John Owolabi, received a special delegation from Iye Akoko in his office.
The delegation expressed appreciation for the Chairman’s developmental strides across key sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and the promotion of political inclusiveness within the local government.
The primary purpose of the visit was to formally seek government approval for the installation of a new traditional ruler, as the community has been without a king.
The delegation presented the community’s kingmakers and their preferred candidate to the local government for due consideration and necessary approval.
In addition to the request for royal installation, the community also appealed for political appointments, improved social amenities, and government support for their chosen candidate.
The delegation was led by Hon. Henry Olukoju, who commended the Chairman’s transformative leadership and reaffirmed the community’s support for his administration.
In his response, Chairman Owolabi thanked the delegation for the visit and their continued support.
He assured them of his administration’s commitment to addressing their requests and promised to facilitate prompt consideration of the matters presented. He further encouraged the community to remain united and supportive of government initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable development.
