CHAIRMAN OWOLABI CELEBRATES ONE YEAR OF TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP WITH LANDMARK PROJECTS
The Executive Chairman of Akoko Northwest Local Government Area, Hon. Esan John Owolabi, has marked his first year in office with significant developmental strides across the council area.
Since assuming office on February 25, 2025, the Chairman has demonstrated strong commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises through impactful projects in infrastructure, water supply, education, agriculture, youth empowerment, and community development.
Key Achievements Within One Year
Infrastructure Development:
Reconstruction of Ubalo Bridge; Oluta/Olosin Bridge (Okeirun); Abilogbo Bridge (Ogbagi); and Maternity Road Bridge (Arigidi Akoko).
Construction of a culvert at Ofe Street, Ogbagi.
Ongoing construction of bridges at Solaco Estate and Ayegunle Afin/Ese (Ward 9).
Reconstruction of a long-abandoned bridge in Okeagbe (Ward 3).
Grading of local roads across towns and villages within the local government.
Water & Sanitation:
Drilling of a new borehole along Ajowa Road, Okeagbe.
Drilling and installation of solar-powered boreholes in Odoirun Ward, Erusu, and Ikaram.
Renovation of a long-abandoned solar borehole in Ajowa Akoko.
Installation of solar boreholes and renovation of public toilets at Okeagbe Market.
Rural Electrification & Lighting:
Installation of over 550 solar-powered streetlights across the local government area.
Education & Human Capital Development:
Distribution of 25,000 notebooks and writing materials to pupils in public schools.
Disbursement of ₦2 million in bursaries to indigenes studying in tertiary institutions.
Facilitation of employment opportunities for unemployed graduates within the council area.
Agriculture & Youth Empowerment:
Empowerment of over 300 farmers with agricultural materials to boost productivity.
Support for community development initiatives and youth programs.
These people-oriented projects, executed under the administration’s “Our Ease” agenda, have attracted commendation from residents across the local government, who describe the past year as one of visible progress and renewed hope.
Chairman Owolabi reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to inclusive governance and sustainable development, assuring residents of continued service delivery and calling for sustained cooperation and support.
He also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and the Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as well as other critical stakeholders, for their support toward the success of his administration.
