Ekere Backs Tinubu, Akpabio, Eno for Continuity, Cites Performance
By Chief Bassey Esin
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Bassey Eno for continuity in office, citing their performance records as justification for renewed mandates.
Speaking at the Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District Stakeholders Meeting, Ekere described the trio as leaders whose measurable achievements have earned them the confidence of the people across party lines.
He reaffirmed his belief in the ideals of the APC and the unity of Akwa Ibom State, stressing that governance should be assessed based on tangible outcomes rather than political sentiments.
According to him, the administration of President Tinubu under the Renewed Hope agenda has initiated critical economic reforms aimed at stabilising the national economy and repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth. He urged citizens to remain patient and supportive, noting that the long-term benefits of the reforms would outweigh current challenges.
Obong Ekere also highlighted the strategic importance of Akwa Ibom State producing the nation’s number three citizen in the person of Senate President Akpabio, describing it as a significant political advantage that should be consolidated for the benefit of the state and the Niger Delta region.
On the state level, he commended Governor Umo Eno for what he described as people-oriented governance driven by the ARISE Agenda, noting that the administration has maintained a development trajectory anchored on inclusivity, economic expansion, and social welfare.
“The records are clear. Leadership should be judged by results. Where there is evidence of performance, continuity becomes a logical and responsible choice,” Sir Ekere stated.
He called on political leaders, stakeholders, and voters in the senatorial district and across the state to prioritise unity and development, urging them to support leaders who have demonstrated capacity and commitment to public service.
The endorsement is seen as a significant political signal ahead of future electoral cycles, reinforcing calls for continuity at both the national and subnational levels.
