Police arrest two suspects over illicit drug deal in Ekiti

The Police in Ekiti State have arrested two suspected illicit drug dealers in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, who named the suspects as Promise Faṣọla and Ileri-Oluwa Alao, said that some quantities of illicit drugs, such as Colorado, Indian hemp, Loud, one POS machine, one Android phone, and one power bank, among others, were recovered from them.

Abutu, in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, said, “The arrested suspects confessed to be illicit drug dealers and will be thoroughly investigated and charged to court accordingly, while efforts are underway for the possible arrest of the fleeing suspects”.

According to him, based on intelligence-led policing, the Divisional Police Officer, New Iyin Division, alongside his operatives, raided an identified illicit drugs marketing centre located at Alade Garage Area, Basiri, Ado Ekiti, where the suspects were arrested.

Abutu said, “The raid was in compliance with the marching order given to the DPOs and the Heads of Tactical Units by the Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, to continuously raid all identified criminal hideouts as part of the measures to rid the state of criminal elements”.

He stated that “the CP implores members of the public to collaborate and support the police with credible and timely information about criminal activities and hideouts to enable the command to take necessary and immediate actions.”
