Ondo APC Youth Leader, Opeyemi Adedeji, Hosts Strategic Engagement with Social Media Handlers

Opeyemi Adedeji, the Ondo State APC Youth Leader, convened an online strategic engagement yesterday with selected Facebook handlers from across the state.

It was not just a routine meeting; it was a deliberate move to shape the tone, direction, and responsibility of youth-driven communication in today’s political space.

At the heart of the conversation was a simple but powerful message: what we project as a people will determine what we attract as a state.

Hon. Opeyemi made it clear that Ondo State cannot afford to be seen as a place of division, hostility, or unnecessary political tension. According to him, investors, development partners, and even well-meaning indigenes in the diaspora are watching—and what they see online, especially from young people, goes a long way in shaping their perception of the state.

He emphasized that the role of social media handlers is no longer just about posting content or defending political interests; it is about nation-building at the grassroots level. Every post, caption, and comment must consciously promote unity, peace, and progress.

In clear terms, he urged the handlers to avoid content that fuels conflict, insults opponents, or creates unnecessary division within the party and the state.

Instead, he encouraged them to focus on telling positive stories, highlighting government efforts, promoting peaceful coexistence, and reinforcing the idea that Ondo State is stable, safe, and open for growth.

A key part of the meeting focused on the power of youth as drivers of change. Hon. Opeyemi described young people not just as participants in politics, but as the engine room of public perception.

He noted that in today’s digital age, the youth control the narrative, and whoever controls the narrative influences reality.

He charged them to rise above petty politics and see themselves as ambassadors of the state and the party. According to him, the future of Ondo depends largely on how responsibly young people use their voices today.

The meeting also stressed internal unity within the APC. Hon. Opeyemi reminded everyone that a divided house cannot stand, and that strengthening the party from within is the first step toward winning public trust.

He called for respect among members, alignment of messaging, and a shared commitment to the larger goal of progress.

By the end of the session, there was a clear understanding: this is not just about politics; it is about protecting the image of Ondo State, attracting opportunities, and building a future where development thrives.

The handlers left the meeting not just informed, but inspired, with a renewed sense of duty to use their platforms wisely, promote peace deliberately, and position Ondo State as a place of promise.

In all, the engagement reinforced one powerful idea: when the youth speak with one voice of unity and progress, the entire state moves forward.
