Alex Otti’s Serving Aide Joins APC, Cites Controversial Reason

The National Assembly Liaison Officer to governor Alex Otti of Abia state, Iheanyi Chinasa has joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the Labour Party (LP).

Iheanyi Chinasa a strong political ally of governor Alex Otti left the Labour Party to align with the deputy speaker of House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.

Iheanyi Chinasa in 2023 contested against Benjamin Kalu for the House of Representatives seat for Bende Federal Constituency.

His joining the APC to align with Benjamin Kalu was confirmed in a statement by Levinus Nwabughiogu, the chief press secretary of deputy speaker of House of Representatives.

Iheanyi Chinasa also known as Dogo was later publicly received into the APC by the southeast regional leadership of the party during their meeting in Enugu state. The meeting which was convened by Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma in Enugu state, aimed to widen and strengthen the political base of APC in the southeast region.

While speaking about Iheanyi Chinasa joining the APC, Benjamin Kalu described him as a high profile entrant into the ruling party.

Dogo ran election with me in Bende for House of Representatives and was later appointed by the governor as National Assembly Liaison Officer. He is from Bende and from Ikwu Isii, my own section of the constituency and today, he has come to join our Party (APC),” he said.

Iheanyi Chinasa joining the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections is considered a big loss to the Abia state LP and governor Alex Otti who is not unaware of the political machinations against his reelection ambition.

Sources close to iheanyi Chinasa claim that he decided to align with Benjamin Kalu whom he contested against in 2023 due to governor Alex Otti’s refusal to grant him the Labour Party’s house of representatives ticket for Bende federal constituency.
