FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE EXPANDS NATIONAL SAFETY NETWORK WITH NEW METROPOLITAN FIRE STATION IN EKITI

In a significant stride toward strengthening Nigeria’s emergency response architecture, the Federal Fire Service has officially taken over a newly constructed Metropolitan Fire Station in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, an addition that underscores the Service’s expanding operational footprint and commitment to public safety under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The state-of-the-art facility, strategically located along New Iyin Road, adjacent to the Central Bank of Nigeria, was formally handed over by the contractor, ASHFARD Nigeria Limited, to the Federal Fire Service. The development marks a major milestone in the ongoing modernization drive of the Service, championed by the Controller General, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi.

A delegation from the Federal Fire Service Headquarters, Abuja, led by Engr. Adeniyi Oluwaseyi of the Engineering and Project Services Department, was deployed by the Controller General to oversee and formalize the handover process. The delegation described the project as a reflection of purposeful leadership and a clear commitment to strengthening fire safety infrastructure nationwide.

The Metropolitan Fire Station, completed within schedule, stands as a modern emergency hub designed to meet growing urban safety demands. Its addition to the national grid of fire stations reinforces the Federal Fire Service’s strategic expansion into metropolitan areas, ensuring that densely populated and rapidly developing regions receive prompt and effective emergency coverage.

Delivering the Controller General’s message at the event, the Ekiti State Controller of the Federal Fire Service, DCF O.J. Olatunji, described the project as a landmark achievement in the Service’s ongoing reforms. Speaking on behalf of Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, MDRM, MBA, ACTI, FCNA, he stated that the commissioning of the station represents a deliberate investment in safety infrastructure aimed at strengthening national capacity for fire prevention and emergency response.

He conveyed the Controller General’s assurance that the facility will significantly enhance operational readiness, improve response time, and boost personnel morale, while reaffirming the Service’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the nation. He also emphasized the need for a strong maintenance culture to preserve the integrity of the facility and sustain its long-term value.

The Controller General, through his representative, aligned the milestone with the broader vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda continues to drive impactful infrastructural development across critical sectors. He further commended the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his innovative leadership and reforms, which have repositioned the Ministry and its agencies for improved service delivery.
