According to reports, loud bangs believed to be gunshots caused chaos inside the venue, forcing hundreds of guests to dive under tables as Secret Service agents stormed the hall and secured the area.

 

Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were immediately shielded and evacuated by security operatives. Officials later confirmed that the president was safe and unharmed.

 

Authorities said the suspect, reportedly armed, attempted to breach security but was quickly neutralised and taken into custody by law enforcement.

 

Eyewitnesses described a tense and chaotic scene, with security agents shouting warnings and rushing into the ballroom as confusion spread among the more than 2,000 attendees.

 

About an hour after the incident, Trump confirmed the situation was under control, praising the Secret Service and law enforcement for their swift response.
