Air Peace Suspends Lagos-London Flight Over Aircraft Fault During Routine Check

The airline disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday through its X handle, explaining that the issue was detected after passengers had already boarded the aircraft for departure.

Passengers travelling on an Air Peace flight from Lagos to London’s Gatwick airport were left stranded after the airline suspended the scheduled service following the discovery of a technical fault on the aircraft.

The airline disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday through its X handle, explaining that the issue was detected after passengers had already boarded the aircraft for departure.

According to the airline, the aircraft was immediately withdrawn from service in compliance with established safety procedures while engineers moved in to address the problem.

“Following the completion of passenger boarding, a routine post-boarding technical check identified a minor aircraft fault that required immediate attention,” the airline stated.

Air Peace said all passengers were safely disembarked as technical personnel worked on the aircraft to resolve the issue before any further operations.

The airline maintained that safety remained its highest priority and explained that the temporary suspension of the flight was necessary despite the inconvenience caused to passengers.

“At Air Peace, the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew will always take precedence over operational schedules,” the statement read.

The carrier further defended its decision to halt the flight, insisting that precautionary measures were unavoidable under the circumstances.

“While we understand the inconvenience this situation may have caused, taking swift preventive action was the responsible and necessary decision,” it added.

Air Peace also said passengers affected by the disruption were promptly informed and provided with hotel accommodation alongside other support services pending their departure.

“To minimise further disruption, a replacement aircraft from London will be dispatched and passengers are scheduled to depart this morning,” Air Peace said.

The airline thanked passengers for remaining calm and cooperative during the disruption, while reaffirming its commitment to safe and dependable flight operations.

“We deeply appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation shown by our passengers during this period. Their trust remains incredibly important to us,” the statement added.
