Egunjobi Now To Seek House of Assembly Seat

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC).Political campaign consulting

Obasa has been a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly for 23 years. He was first elected to represent Agege Constituency I in 2003 and has successfully retained his legislative seat across six consecutive election cycles. He has also been the speaker of the House since 2015.

The speaker is seeking to replace Wale Ahmed, the current lawmaker representing Agege Federal Constituency who will be completing his first term of four years in 2027.

Obasa’s political son and former Chairman of Agege Local Government, Kola Egunjobi, who had earlier commenced campaign and mobilisation for the House of Reps seat, is now to seek APC ticket to the State Assembly.

Obasa made the declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday in Agege, Lagos, where he said leaders of the APC in the constituency had urged him to join the race.

The Speaker also called on party members to support Egunjobi’s aspiration to represent Agege Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

He further appealed for support for Azeez Oladapo Yusuf Ninolowo, who is aspiring to represent Agege Constituency II in the state assembly.

The declaration adds to the growing number of aspirants seeking the APC ticket for elective positions in Agege ahead of the party primaries.

Supporters and loyalists of various aspirants have continued mobilising party members and constituents to participate in the primaries and vote for their preferred candidates.

Meanwhile, residents of Agege and Orile-Agege, alongside APC members across Lagos State, are awaiting the outcome of the screening exercise conducted by the state and national leadership of the party ahead of the primaries.
