JUST IN: How Tinubu Made Me Drop Lagos Governorship Ambition – Gbajabiamila

Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has revealed why he did not contest for the Lagos State governorship despite pressure from supporters and political stakeholders.

Naija News reports that Gbajabiamila spoke during a meeting with stakeholders in Surulere, where he explained that many people had wanted him to run for governor of Lagos State.

According to him, President Bola Tinubu discussed certain issues with key political figures, and after listening to the president’s position, he accepted the decision without resistance.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives said he remained loyal to Tinubu and believed the explanation given by the president was reasonable.

Gbajabiamila also said he did not protest or oppose the decision after the discussions were held. He added that in politics and life, opportunities still come even when one path closes.

He stated, “You all wanted me to run as governor of Lagos State, it was the desire of everybody. But when the President, the one whom I serve and to whom I am forever loyal, explained certain things to certain key people, that was it.

“What he said made sense. When he said those things, I did not carry a placard or protest…when one door closes, another opens, that is how it is done.”
