APM affirms Makinde as presidential candidate

The Allied People’s Movement (APM), Osun State chapter, has affirmed Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election following the conclusion of primaries across 332 wards in Osun State.

The party’s leadership said the affirmation was reached during a political ceremony attended by party leaders, INEC officials, security agencies and members of the press.

Speaking, Chairman of the party’s primary election committee, Adewale Adebayo, announced this on Thursday in Osogbo.

He stated that the primaries for presidential, House of Representatives and State Assembly seats were conducted without disruption.

According to him, the peaceful process across all 332 wards in Osun State reflects maturity, discipline and unity within the party’s ranks.

“After the successful conduct of our primaries, we have today affirmed His Excellency Seyi Makinde as the sole presidential aspirant of our dear party, as the presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement for the 2027 general elections.

This gathering is not merely a political ceremony; it is a demonstration of unity, consensus and shared conviction in the future of our party and our nation.

“Sometimes, the strongest democracy is not in division, but in agreement built on trust, consultation and common vision.”

Adebayo also announced that House of Representatives and State Assembly candidates emerged through what the party described as the “overwhelming love, acceptance and support of party members”.

He, however, called on members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and other Nigerians to embrace the APM as an alternative platform.

We are determined to provide Nigerians with a strong alternative platform capable of rescuing and rebuilding the nation,” he stated.

Adebayo expressed confidence that PDP structures in Osun State, youths and progressive citizens support the APM’s agenda for the 2026 governorship election.

He also thanked INEC and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful process.

“Today is not the end of a process; it is the beginning of a bigger journey towards a better Nigeria in 2027. APM is ready, Osun is ready, Nigeria is ready,” he concluded.
