Oyo Government dem0lishes building allegedly used as ∆rms depot in Ibadan
The Oyo State Government has demolished a residential property in Ibadan allegedly used as a storage facility for a large cache of arms and ammunition.
The property, located in the Gbenku area along Arubiewe Road, off Olodo Garage in Ibadan, comprised a storey building and two bungalows enclosed within a fenced compound.
According to government officials, the demolition represents a decisive move against rising criminal activities in the state.
Speaking at the demolition site, the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Hon. Mojeed Mogbonjubola, said security agencies uncovered the arms cache while investigating criminal activities linked to the location.
He noted that the action was taken on the directive of Governor Seyi Makinde as part of efforts to rid the state of criminal hideouts and strengthen public safety.
The commissioner also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities in their communities.
He further advised landlords and property agents to thoroughly screen prospective tenants before renting out their properties, noting that collective vigilance is essential to maintaining security across the state.
