My husband and I had been together for 11 years.
He died on a Tuesday morning, and by Thursday evening, members of his family had already arrived at our compound.

They did not come to mourn him. They did not come to sit with me or comfort me. They did not come to console my daughters, who were still crying themselves to sleep every night.
