While these policies have undoubtedly affected daily life, it's essential to consider the broader financial dynamics. President Tinubu's administration has not only removed subsidies but also significantly increased allocations to states and local governments, sometimes doubling or tripling previous amounts. These funds are intended to enhance infrastructure and public services nationwide, yet their impact remains elusive.

For instance, in his Democracy Day address on June 12, 2024, President Tinubu announced a substantial allocation of 10 billion naira to each state and the Federal Capital Territory to alleviate food scarcity. However, many states have failed to transparently communicate or effectively utilize these funds for the benefit of their people. This lack of accountability perpetuates unjust blame solely on the federal leadership.

As conscientious citizens, it is crucial to recognize that effective governance begins locally. The core of our communities resides within our local government offices and state houses, where decisions directly affect ordinary Nigerians. While national figures attract criticism, it is our local representatives who wield significant power over our immediate welfare.

Rather than solely blaming higher authorities, let us redirect our efforts towards demanding transparency and accountability from our local leaders. Senators, Assembly members, and governors must uphold rigorous governance standards. They manage substantial resources and responsibilities that, if handled effectively and transparently, could alleviate community hardships significantly.

President Tinubu and the federal government have demonstrated intent in addressing national challenges.
