CONDOLENCE MESSAGE ON THE AKUNGBA AKOKO ROAD TRAGEDY
It was with deep sorrow that I received the news of the ghastly road accident that occurred on Tuesday, 22nd October 2025, at Akungba Akoko, Ondo State. The tragic incident, involving a Dangote truck that rammed into several vehicles, claimed precious lives and left many others injured.
My heart goes out to the families who lost their loved ones in this painful occurrence. May God comfort them and grant the departed eternal rest. To those who sustained injuries, I pray for your quick and complete recovery. This is indeed a dark and distressing moment for our people.
Beyond mourning, this incident once again reminds us of the urgent need for stronger preventive measures on our highways. I therefore call on the relevant authorities, particularly; the Federal Ministry of Works, FERMA and the Ondo State Government to re-barricade the Akungba road and put adequate safety signs in place until the ongoing dualisation project is completed.
Lives must not continue to be lost to preventable accidents. I also appeal to heavy-duty truck drivers to always exercise caution and adhere strictly to speed and safety regulations when passing through our towns.
May God protect all road users and grant Akungba Akoko, and indeed the entire Akoko land, peace and safety.
