Troops r£scue 92 k!dnapped civilians
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have rescued 92 kidnapped civilians in a swift and successful operation along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu Local Government Area.
On Saturday, 23 May 2026, alert troops detected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists forcing civilians and vehicles into the bush.
A Quick Reaction Force was rapidly deployed, leading to a co-ordinated pursuit that forced the terrorists to abandon their captives and flee.
The rescued victims comprised 52 males, 33 females, and 7 children. All 92 civilians, along with 8 vehicles, were safely recovered and escorted to Damaturu.
The fleeing terrorists attempted to ambush pursuing troops by planting three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), which were successfully detonated by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
This operation further demonstrates the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting civilians and degrading terrorist activities in the North East.
