A new community has been established in Ondo State, especially in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area, marking another significant milestone in the traditional institution as Owa Adimula was presented with a staff of office as a community in Akoko Northwest Local Government in Ondo State.
The Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, presented the staff of office and instrument of appointment to the trailblazing traditional ruler of Oke-oro in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area, Oba Olanrewaju Olaoye Adeyemi, as the Owa Adimula of Okeoro, reiterating his “Our Ease” commitment to continue impacting positively during his administration in the state. He promised more transformative initiatives in security, agriculture, education, empowerment, and others.
Speaking at the pioneer installation occasion, Aiyedatiwa disclosed that Okeoro is one of the lucky communities the world has been expecting, and now it has come to reality, approved and recognized by the declaration on April 14, 2026, in line with the Chieftaincy Law of Ondo State, 1984, as amended, following what he described as painstaking scrutiny of the community’s yearning. The community of Okeoro is now recognized by law and changed from former Okeirun to Okeoro henceforth.
Aiyedatiwa described the occasion as a historical one and the community has come to stay forever by law and in the mind of humanity. Gov. Aiyedatiwa congratulated the people of the community and the new kingdom in Akokoland, Ondo State, and Nigeria at large.
During his address at the occasion, Chairman Owolabi Esan, Akoko Northwest Local Government, described the kingdom as a historic milestone and new development in the local government and a new era of headway.
Owolabi Esan congratulated the community people and the new king, praying that the community will witness rapid progress and development during the reign of Oba Adeyemi.
Owolabi commended the governor of the state for recognizing the new community and its revered stool and assured his contribution toward the development of the community. He admonished the people of the community to continue to embrace the existing peace and development of one another in the area. He described the gesture by the governor as a welcome development and demonstration of one of his administration’s renewed commitments to preserving cultural heritage and strengthening traditional institutions.
Oba Olanrewaju Olaoye Adeyemi appreciated the governor for coming to present the staff of office and recognizing Okeoro community in Akoko. He thanked the governor for his governance in the state and declared the community’s support for the governor.
Oba Adeyemi requested community developmental projects, especially infrastructure and a higher institution, from the governor because the community has the most vast land in the area to accommodate such a prestigious gesture.
At the end of the presentation of the staff of office to the revered king, a chieftaincy title was presented to the governor to appreciate his support for the new community.
