In a significant breakthrough against kidnapping operations in Northern Nigeria, the Kaduna State Police Command has successfully rescued three kidnap victims who spent an agonizing 40 days in captivity
The rescue operation was carried out following credible intelligence gathered by security operatives, leading police officers to a suspected bandits’ hideout.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, security personnel swiftly acted on the intelligence and launched a coordinated operation against the criminal enclave.
Upon noticing the approach of the security team, the suspected bandits reportedly fled the area, abandoning their captives and escaping into surrounding terrain.
The three victims were rescued unharmed and safely extracted from the location.
The rescued victims have been identified as Ekechikwu Omale, Ummi Salisu of Kudan Local Government Area in Kaduna State, and Pastor Daniel Tanko Bawa of Tufa Village in neighbouring Niger State.
After regaining their freedom, the victims were immediately transported to the Police Clinic, where they received medical examinations and necessary treatment following their prolonged captivity.
Authorities later reunited the victims with their relieved families after doctors confirmed their condition was stable.
The operation also led investigators to a wider network allegedly supporting the kidnappers.
DSP Hassan disclosed that five suspected informants linked to the kidnapping syndicate were arrested during the course of the investigation.
According to preliminary findings, the suspects allegedly provided critical information, logistical support, and assistance to the kidnappers before and during the abduction.
Police further revealed that during interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the criminal activities.
The arrests underscore the growing concern over local collaborators who provide intelligence and operational support to kidnapping gangs, often helping criminals identify targets and evade security forces.
Authorities have emphasized that investigations remain ongoing as security operatives intensify efforts to identify, track, and arrest other members of the criminal network.
The Kaduna State Police Command reiterated its commitment to combating kidnapping, dismantling criminal syndicates, and ensuring that all individuals involved in the crime are brought before the law.
The successful rescue offers a rare moment of relief for the victims and their families after more than a month of uncertainty, fear, and suffering.
