Sunday Igboho Proposes Statewide School Security Deployment Following Oriire K!dnap, Seeks Oyo Government Collaboration
Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho and founder of the Iru Ekun Security Network, has called for a strategic partnership with the Oyo State Government following the recent abd¥ction of more than 40 pupils, a principal, and a vice principal in Oriire Local Government Area.
In a letter to the state government, Adeyemo requested a comprehensive database containing the names, numbers, and locations of all public primary and secondary schools across Oyo State to facilitate proactive security deployment.
Expressing sympathy with the victims, their families, school authorities, and the people of Oriire, the security outfit described the incident as a tr@gic act perpetrated by crim!nal elements.
While commending the ongoing rescue efforts by the Oyo State Government and federal security agencies, Iru Ekun stressed the need to prioritize preventive measures to safeguard schools and prevent future attacks on students and teachers.
According to Sunday Igboho, the requested data will enable the network to carry out security mapping, threat assessments, and community engagement around schools.
He disclosed plans to deploy at least two trained members of the outfit to each public school in the state, where they would monitor activities, secure school premises, liaise with school authorities and community vigilantes, and help prevent unlawful incursions by criminal elements.
The group also urged the state government to consider fencing all public schools to improve surveillance and restrict unauthorized access. Junaid A. Sanusi, Esq., Legal Adviser to Iru Ekun Security Network, stated that the proposed deployment would be carried out within the law and in collaboration with statutory security agencies.
The letter, copied to Governor Seyi Makinde, reaffirmed the outfit’s readiness to work with government agencies and stakeholders to strengthen school security and restore public confidence in education across Oyo State.
