Governor suspends Finance commissioner

Reports have emerged that Gov. Agbu Kefas has suspended the Taraba State Commissioner for Finance, Sarah Adi Enoch.

The speculation appears to have gained traction because she has been visibly absent from major financial engagements of the Taraba State Government for months including the signing of the MoU between the Taraba State Government and the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) for the proposed N400 BILLION funding facility.

If these reports are not true, then Tarabans are calling on her to come out and explain why she was absent from such an important financial engagement.

As the Chief Accounting Officer of the State, Tarabans deserve answers to some very important questions:

1. Has the Debt Management Office (DMO) given its approval?

2. Has the National Assembly completed the necessary approval process and passed a resolution?

3. Was the fund captured in the Federal Government’s 2026 budget?
Has the Federal Ministry of Finance approved the proposed foreign borrowing?

5. What are the terms and conditions of the facility?

If the Commissioner has indeed been suspended, then the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance together with the Accountant General of Taraba State should immediately come forward and provide these clarifications to Tarabans.

The Commissioner for Energy and Economic Development is not the State’s Chief Accounting Officer. She has no business leading the engagement.

Tarabans deserve to know why such a significant financial engagement was led without the visible participation of the Taraba State Ministry of Finance.

We are talking about N400 BILLION. This is not a small matter.

Tarabans deserve transparency before commitments of this magnitude are made in their name.
