Cleric-Turned-Politician Vows Transparent Leadership, Says He Won’t Loot Public Funds

The candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Obi II State Constituency seat in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Bishop Ezekiel Musa, has pledged to prioritize development and accountability if elected, declaring that he is entering politics to serve the people rather than enrich himself through public funds.Africans & Diaspora

Speaking with journalists in Lafia on Tuesday, the cleric-turned-politician criticized what he described as years of poor representation and underdevelopment in Obi II Constituency. He said the area continues to suffer from inadequate roads, poor healthcare, limited access to potable water, and a struggling education sector despite years of legislative representation.

Musa explained that his experiences living in Rivers, Lagos, Abuja, and abroad exposed him to the benefits of effective governance, inspiring his decision to contest the 2027 election. He said he was moved to seek public office after repeatedly witnessing the lack of meaningful development in his constituency.Politics

The NDC candidate stressed that his mission is to deliver quality representation, not to exploit public resources.

“I am not coming to loot public funds or deceive the people for personal gain. I came to bring development and serve my people,” he said.

Musa promised to sponsor legislation that would improve the welfare of residents, embark on regular empowerment programmes, address infrastructure deficits, and establish a scholarship scheme to support children from less-privileged families.

He maintained that, if elected in the 2027 general elections, his administration would focus on providing basic amenities and restoring public confidence in leadership through transparent and people-centered governance.
