BETTA EDU TAKES CHARGE OF WOMEN MOBILISATION FOR TINUBU’S 2027 CAMPAIGN

The appointment of Dr. Betta Chimaobim Edu as Director of Women Mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council has been widely welcomed as a significant recognition of her political experience, organisational capacity and commitment to women’s participation in the political process.
Dr. Edu’s appointment was contained in the full list of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Council released on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

The council is chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, serving as Vice Chairmen. Senator Abdulaziz Yari was named Director-General, while Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as Secretary

As Director of Women Mobilisation, Dr. Edu will play a crucial role in coordinating and strengthening the participation of women across the country in the campaign for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. The position places her at the centre of one of the most important mobilisation structures of the campaign, given the strategic role women play in Nigeria’s political and electoral process.

Dr. Edu is not new to women mobilisation and grassroots political engagement. She previously served as National Women Leader of the APC and was recognised for her efforts in promoting the participation and empowerment of women, particularly young women, within the party.

Her new assignment therefore represents both a responsibility and an opportunity to build on her previous experience by bringing together women leaders, grassroots organisers, professionals, youths and various support groups across the six geopolitical zones.

The appointment also reflects the importance attached to an effective women mobilisation strategy ahead of the 2027 presidential election. With women constituting a significant part of Nigeria’s electorate, an effective and coordinated women-focused campaign will be essential to the APC’s nationwide mobilisation efforts.

As Dr. Betta Edu assumes this responsibility, expectations will be high for her to inspire greater participation, strengthen grassroots structures and coordinate women across communities in support of the campaign’s objectives.
