2027: South-East Women Ready to Reciprocate First Lady’s Gestures by Re-electing Tinubu — Betta Edu
The Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr. Betta Edu, has said women across the South-East are ready to reciprocate the gestures of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, by massively mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Edu stated this on Wednesday while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI)/SDG women empowerment programme held in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
She commended the First Lady for taking the women empowerment initiative across the six geopolitical zones, describing the intervention in Imo State as a strong demonstration of her commitment to improving the lives of women and strengthening families across the region.
According to Edu, the empowerment of 2,500 women in various skills in Imo State, alongside the additional N100,000 cash support announced by the First Lady for each beneficiary, represents a significant beginning that would be replicated across the South-East.
Edu assured women in the region that the South-East would benefit more from the Renewed Hope administration, urging them to remain united, organised and actively involved in the political process ahead of the 2027 election.
She said the women mobilisation campaign would take the message of President Tinubu’s achievements and programmes directly to women and other residents across Imo, Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu states.
We are coming back. Once the campaign is fully activated, we will return to the South-East, and we will take the message of hope from the Mother of the Nation to every woman.
“We will go door-to-door, household-to-household, market-to-market, shop-to-shop, village-to-village and community-to-community.
We will sit with our women, listen to them, explain what the Renewed Hope administration is doing and assure them that the South-East has a place in the Nigeria we are building,” Edu said.
She said women in the South-East had demonstrated resilience and remained critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s economic and political development.
Edu urged the women to see the First Lady’s empowerment initiative not simply as an intervention for selected beneficiaries, but as part of a broader commitment to women’s economic inclusion and empowerment.
“Today, it is Imo State. She is starting from here, but we are not stopping here.
The message is clear: the women of the South-East are an integral part of this journey, and they will benefit more as we move forward.
We want every woman, from the market woman to the petty trader, from the young entrepreneur to the mother in the village, to know that she matters and that this administration is paying attention to her,” she added.
She also expressed confidence in the work being done by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, noting that his administration had given the state a new look through road infrastructure, human capital development and social interventions reaching communities at the grassroots.
Edu further commended the improvement in the state’s security situation, expressing confidence that women would reciprocate the gestures through their support and mobilisation for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
“Women remember those who stand with them. Our women will reciprocate this gesture through their votes and mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” Edu said.
