Governor Disburses N254m Christmas Support to 5,008 Widows, Elderly

The Ebonyi State Government has released N254 million as Christmas support for 5,008 indigent widows and elderly people across the state.
Governor Francis Nwifuru approved the payment, with each beneficiary receiving N50,000 to help them celebrate the festive season.
The announcement was made during the Elders and Widows Christmas Party organised by the state government and represented by the deputy governor, Patricia Obila.
Governor Nwifuru said supporting widows and the elderly had become a yearly tradition to appreciate their past service and contribution to the growth of Ebonyi State. He described them as special people whose prayers had helped the present administration move forward.
He encouraged them to continue believing in his government and promised that they would not be disappointed.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Uchenna Igwe, said the event showed the governor’s strong commitment to caring for the less privileged. He also urged the beneficiaries to keep praying for peace and prosperity in the state.
Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Ebonyi State, Rev. Sam Nwokolo, praised the governor for showing kindness during the Christmas season, describing the gesture as Christ-like.
Some beneficiaries, including Cyril Obazi and Grace Nnachi, thanked the governor for the support and for making the payment of gratuities to retirees possible. They pledged their continued support for the administration.
